PA Man Stabs Couple After Making Vulgar Call To Ex-GF He Hadn’t Seen In 20 Years: Police

A former boyfriend— who had not seen his ex-girlfriend in over 20 years— when he started harassing her and challenged her current boyfriend to a fight, which ended in a stabbing on Sunday, June, 5, police say.

Edward Wade Thomas Jr., 49, was arrested near the scene of multiple stabbings in a parking lot near 2520 Lititz Pike around 1:30 a.m., according to a release by Manheim Township police.

A woman told police that she had received “a harassing phone call from an unknown number” and the man at the other end of the line line “called her vulgar names” so her boyfriend “exchanged words with the unknown caller” and the two men agreed to meet up and “settle things,” as stated in the release.

During the fight, Thomas pulled out a knife and stabbed the woman’s boyfriend multiple times, so the man retaliated by finding a 2x4 and swinging it at Thomas— creating enough distance for the couple to run two their car, according to the release.

But Thomas followed them and again stabbed the man— this time in the hand and leg—that's when the woman got close enough to recognized her ex-boyfriend—whom she hadn’t seen in over 20 years, police say.

She decided to approach Thomas and try and convince him to stop attacking her current boyfriend— he did, he stopped and stabbed her instead, according to the release.

The woman was stabbed at least once in the arm before she got into her car and the couple called 911.

Thomas attempted to flee but was caught by Manheim Township police shortly after the stabbing.

He has been charged with two felonies for aggravated assault and two summary charges for criminal mischief - damage to property and scattering trash, according to court dockets.

He has been held in the Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail and his preliminary hearing has been scheduled before Magisterial District Judge David L. Ashworth at 8:45 a.m. on June 9, according to his latest court docket.

Thomas has a criminal record in multiple counties and previously served time for similar charges in 2015 in Lebanon County, court records show.
